Somali community at Hadayek el Maadi

Background on the Organization
The Somali community-based organization in Hadayek el Maadi has been established on 26th of April 2011 in order to provide a save space of support, learning and relaxation for young and  old Somalis within the community. Activities are realized with the aim to meet the needs of women and children to acquire basic educational and artistic skills such as reading and writing Somali language as well as henna painting; to give Somali children, their parents and caregivers the opportunity to gather and communicate; and to support parents to send their children to school. A major focus is to address obstacles that inhibit children, and especially girls, to go schools. Furthermore, they hold workshops and meetings to raise awareness about the importance of education among children, parents and caregivers, thereby particularly targeting those children who are out-of-school.
