Tarek Farouk Maassarani is Program Director at the Salam Institute. His experience in the field of peacebuilding includes developing and implementing cross-border encounter programs, gang intervention efforts, community mediation and dialogue, school-based peace education programs, and restorative justice initiatives, as well as a wide variety of training services. Tarek has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in conflict resolution at American University, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, Eastern Mennonite University, and the National Peace Academy. As an attorney, he has practiced, published, and lectured in the field of international human rights. Tarek holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School for International and Public Affairs, a J.D. from Georgetown University, as well as a B.S. in Environmental Studies and B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
